However, rotary lawn mowers can be an option as long as you’re mowing your lawn often enough. I typically recommend that people with a zoysia grass lawn and a rotary lawn mower mow just a little more often to help prevent the grass from getting long enough to be more vulnerable to damage.
Remember, you only want to cut zoysia grass when it’s in the leaf stage. Cutting through zoysia stems can kill the individual plants and thin your lawn.
